Chat and Spin Radio is More Than Music

With 750,000 listeners per week throughout the United Kingdom, Chat and Spin is a 24-hour Internet radio station based in Washington Tyne and Wear on the west coast of England. It has been operating for six years broadcasting locally, throughout the UK, and the world. Chat and Spin is non-profit providing a platform to DJs and presenters who have an interesting agenda to announce. The station provides opportunities for new musical groups, authors, and charities promoting their good intentions.

All of their work is accomplished by a dedicated group of volunteers, their administration team, and their presenters. Founders Chris Patterson, Gillian Patterson, Ian Johnson, Ron Clark, Lynne Pinner, and Lewis Perry McAdam had a vision. They created an Internet radio station that would play a variety of music covering classical, dance, pop, and rock so people on every continent could listen to the beat of Chat and Spin. You can even hear it on your smartphone with the free Online Radio Box.

Chat and Spin Radio is more than music. One of the station’s goals is to give DJs and presenters the chance to gain experience on the airwaves giving them the opportunity to put their talent on display, and people from all walks of life have been interviewed by Ron Clark. Mr. Clark has interviewed authors, business people, artists, and charitable organizations. If you have a message to shout out or you’re a budding DJ, you could find an opportunity on Chat and Spin by contacting Ian Johnson at [email protected]. International Interviews Chat and Spin Radio is More Than Music

Recently, I had the unique opportunity to be interviewed regarding my five published novels and I also discussed my newest book, “The Lip Reader.” The interview recording can be found on the Chat and Spin website. It’s on 21st January Evening and Late Show (Part 2A). My interview begins at 1:10:48 on the audio dial.

Another interesting concept Chat and Spin adheres to is providing a high variety of music with few repetitions and updates daily. And it’s a non-profit. Two years ago, the station began accepting advertisers to help make ends meet while keeping costs low for the sponsors. The station runs about 20-30 advertisements per month.

Even so, Chat and Spin has to replace equipment, buy new software and hardware. Therefore, they depend on charitable contributions. So, give Chat and Spin a listen and if you like what you hear, donate a few dollars, pounds, or euros, and enjoy.
