When a Canceled Sitcom Goes Viral
Billionaire Felix Worthington seemingly loves the TV show, A Little Slice of Haven. It was an unpopular sitcom that lasted two seasons, but years later developed a huge following on YouTube. A Little Slice of Haven depicts life during the 1940s in the sleepy hamlet of Haven during a simpler time.
Worthington wants to recreate the roles of the five major cast members: The Barlow family. They consisted of Gerald Barlow (father), Marion Barlow (mother), and their three kids—Dorothy, Tom, and Ann. Worthington offers them two million dollars each to become the Barlows again on a live set for ten days: but there’s a catch. They must stay in character the entire time or lose the cash.
Is Worthington truly a self-professed superfan of A Little Slice of Haven, or is there something else motivating him? A few members of the cast would prefer to forget their stint as a Barlow. Meri, the actor plaing Marion, spent the last twenty years avoiding her TV husband as well as the actors who played the three Barlow kids.
Author Karen McQuestion sets up insurmountable blockades that seem to vanish when the billionaire intercedes. When the actors enter Haven, a town recreated in a huge building on Worthington’s Montana ranch, they are amazed at its authenticity, but confused why it’s been recreated in the first place.
The author does an amazing job of characterization and creating a realistic village right out of the 1940s. As readers get drawn into the Barlow’s daily lives, they may ask themselves, “Why? What does Worthington really want?” You won’t be able to take your eyes from A Limited Run until you find out in the surprising climax. Enjoy
I hare the same qauestion: “What does Worthington really want?”
