Thought Provoking Short Stories
Anne Loader McGee, author of Anni’s Attic and the Cedar Creek Mystery Series, has accumulated six short stories in an eighteen-page e-book. They are strange tales that will remind readers of myths or legends from their youth.
“Love Song of the Waterfall” is a good example. It’s a sad story about a Maori Maiden who dies before her time and the Great Waterfall that loves her. In “Molly” reality is distorted when a wealthy family rescues a little girl from extreme winter cold. Or is the rescue just in the child’s mind?
In “The Emissary” a strange man appears at a young woman’s door bringing fear in his wake. He tells a story of hope when all seems lost. The girl learns that people who truly care about others will embrace their fears, for only from doing that can fear mutate into love.
Like the two stories reviewed from Tales from the Secret Stairwell, McGee’s short stories are thought provoking and will keep readers thinking long after reading the last tale.
