A Paranormal YA Fantasy

About Tidal Surge

Book cover

Kaelyn and her boyfriend have traveled from Australia to visit Kaelyn’s mother, Liliha, in England. The two women have been estranged for many years, ever since Liliha fled Australia to rid herself of an ex-husband with bipolar disorder. Kaelyn felt that her mother had deserted she and her sister.

The young couple stay in Liliha’s cottage outside of town, while Liliha and husband Oliver live in a stylish converted barn.

Liliha wears a mood ring that Oliver says, “…has the power to correct harm in the world.” The ring has the ability of seizing the wearer’s consciousness and transporting it to an individual in need of Liliha’s help and guidance.

Daughter Kaelyn snoops around her mother’s drawers one day and uncovers another piece of jewelry. This is a bracelet that has the opposite effect of the mood ring. It transports the wearer’s consciousness to an individual causing harm. It affects the wearer to influence disorder and chaos.

Appraisal

Francene Stanley’s novel, Tidal Surge, is a paranormal YA fantasy that delves into issues of good vs evil and a mother/daughter relationship with deep insight and honesty.

Though Tidal Surge was book two in the Moonstone Series, I didn’t feel it necessary to go back and read the first novel, Still Rock Water. Tidal Surge stands alone nicely—a book paranormal fantasy lovers will thoroughly enjoy.
