A Modern Day Fairy Tale: TrumpelStiltskin

I found scores of non-fiction books on Amazon about Donald Trump—some complimentary and others not so much. There are also a few novels with characters behaving like our 45th president. Bill Day’s book, Great Again, is a perfect example. In Day’s book the main Trump-like character actually grows and matures as a human being. It’s quite refreshing.

You won’t see that in TrumpelStiltskin A Fairy Tale by Scott Bischke. The author begins, “In a land far, far away—yet not so distant as one might think lived a wise and kindly king.” This king was ready to retire and choose his successor. When the Miller brags about having the talent to weave straw into gold, the king takes her up on her offer.

The kingdom is low on funds and with three rooms filled with the gold she promises, he will offer her the crown as an award for her success. But the Miller has a problem. She doesn’t really know how to spin straw into gold. But TrumpelStiltskin does.

TrumpelStiltskin A Fairy Tale is a re-imagining of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Rumpelstilskin, which author Scott Bischke uses to parody our 45th and 47th president. It’s a quick 51 page read that kept me laughing. It’s also a good book for teachers to use to teach politics and political dynamics.

About the Author

Scott Bischke A Modern Day Fairy Tale: TrumpelStiltskin

Scott Bischke lives with his wife and best friend, Katie Gibson, in Montana. The couple has hiked, biked, and canoed in places far and wide. A common thread in all of Scott and Katie’s travels has been their desire to immerse themselves in the peace, solitude, and tranquility of the natural world. The couple seeks out people, places, and activities that reinforce their desire to live a life filled with positive energy. Perhaps more simply, they seek to live a life that reflects their gratitude for being alive each and every day.
