Haunting Horror Stories
Looking for a scary story to tell? You don’t need to look further than Tales at Midnight: A Haunting Collection of Horror Stories-Volume 1 by Rod Little. Included are ten stories I had fun reading.
In the first story, “The Gas Station” John is driving home from a sales meeting in Wichita. It was an opportunity for him to escape the wife and kids for a few days. After paying for his gas and buying supplies from the mini mart, he sees a young couple laughing. When he passes their car, he notices a teenager in the backseat with her mouth duct taped and her hands and feet bound. He tries calling 911, but there aren’t any cell towers in the sticks. John will have to take care of this problem himself as his life turns for the worse.
In “Midnight Showing” Elliott and Drew need a place to hide after they robbed a store in a nearby town. Cops will be looking for them. Since the Mortedella Theater is showing three of Alfred Hitchcock’s films, the duo decides to stay until early morning. Little do the crooks know that this theater is run by ghosts.
Speaking about a good ghost story, you must read “Spirits in the Attic” where young couple Luke and Rose discover a Ouija Board in their attic that brings only mayhem and death.
Most of the stories in Tales at Midnight were enjoyable to read and a book to bring to my next campout to tell wide-eyed campers under a full moon at midnight.
