Scary Halloween Story
John Galloway is a middle-aged cop still walking his beat in a small Northeastern town. He is a beaten cop carrying emotional luggage of a failed marriage and a daughter lost to violence.
Now it’s Halloween, the WORST day of the year to walk his beat, especially at night. Killing time before reporting for duty, Galloway heads to Broadway Diner, the local greasy spoon, for lunch.
Outside the diner stands an ordinary businessman laughing hysterically. Galloway checks to see if the stranger is okay, but all he has to say is “Today’s the day,” giggling like a girl.
Thus Jeanne Bannon begins her 20 page short story, “Today’s the Day,” about a little girl lost during a night of trick-or-treating. It’s a tale that plucks at your heartstrings then goes into full orchestra with its scary and dramatic crescendo.
“Today’s the Day” is one Halloween tale you won’t want to miss, and it’s a great story to re-tell over a campfire.
