Bubbles of Time: A Unique Sci-Fi Adventure
Peace and Starview are two worlds light years apart, but inhabited predominantly by humans from Earth. It appears that a race of nonphysical entities calling themselves Watchers have given residents of Peace Talent in the hopes that one day they can become the New Watchers to take the place of the dying race. However, the humans on Peace are not overly enthused about their gifts and would like the Watchers to take them back.
One such gifted Peace resident is Janni, a young adult just starting out in life. She has the Talent to transport her essence into space, travel to other worlds, and even transport people from one planet to another. In one of Janni’s trips she meets an alien mind capable of receiving her thoughts—Maxee, a Klocti. (Klocti are intelligent bear-like creatures.) Maxee contacts her human sister (they were raised together) to let Sam know there’s a threat that could destroy Starview.
Janni’s people have alien technology that is capable of transporting Sam’s people to Peace to protect them from the impending danger. Sam, the leader of her community on Starview, has a strong sense that Janni is correct, and initiates the connection between the two worlds.
Bubbles of Time tells the story of this transfer and the affect it has on the populations of the two planets. The novel has an excellent plot, but disappointed me in a few areas.
First, the characters, though listed at the beginning of the book, are not fleshed out well, and the scenes needed more clarification. Then came the big BOO-BOO! Maxee goes through the portal built on Starview and enters Peace with her kubs. The author forgets this because a later scene appears in which Sam and Maxee interact on Starview when Maxee is actually on Peace. This is an inexcusable faux-pax.
