A Memoir about Nigeria and its Culture

cover A Memoir about Nigeria and its CultureUyi Osifo, a native of Benin, Nigeria and immigrant to the United States in 2006, writes a memoir about growing up in Nigeria. He shares his nation’s religious beliefs, including his acceptance of Christianity, family difficulties and joys, and an inside view of Nigerian culture through short stories he recalled from his youth.

Chicken Hero: Fascinating Stories Based on Life Experiences was independently published, and it looked it. Grammatical errors stood out throughout the hundred-page memoir like sad frowns in a sea of smiles. The stories, some of which showed a side of Nigerian culture Pop was clueless about—pagan rituals and beliefs—was fascinating reading, however, the stories didn’t resonate a common theme to connect them into a good piece of literature.

If readers would like an inside glimpse into Nigerian culture, Chicken Hero is an easy read to check out.
