Warning: Stay Away from Dead End Streets

Zach, Jessica, Pelt and Cole are students at the University of Pittsburgh spending five weeks of their summer break traveling through the Deep South to document little known monuments and unique relics of the past. On day six of their trek, they stopped at Bud’s Gator Museum near the Louisiana swamps. After Jessica pried her three male friends away from that icky museum, the group found an interesting sign reading “Dead End Road” fifty miles from the interstate.

But this “Dead End Road” morphed into a dirt road riddled with weeds. From a nearby sign they learned they were on Gravedigger Road which led to a gravel lot in front of a church. Yards in back of the church the four travelers uncovered a cemetery with thirteen graves and the fourteenth plot not yet filled. Hungry, they ate their lunch under a shade tree until the gravedigger showed up.

The Gravedigger

He was a large man burying a live pre-teen boy whose hands and feet were tied and duct tape stretched across his face. When the gravedigger heard a rapid succession of camera shots, he looked up and his face appeared like an angry skull. Thus, begins Rod Little’s On Gravedigger Roada horror story that will definitely keep readers up at night

After the gravedigger notices he’s being watched, he chases the college students through a foggy swamp filled with snakes and gators. Their phones can’t get reception, and to make things impossible, the gravedigger sabotages their vehicle. The kids are stuck in this swamp hell and must survive a night that would feel feel more like a year. On Gravedigger Road is a 374-page suspense novel following the style of Stephen King, and like King’s books, it’s a page-turner that will keep you reading through all of the surprising twists and turns until the dramatic conclusion.

Rod Little writes a non-stop action plot with superb scene descriptions and excellent characterizations. On Gravedigger Road is a perfect read at any time, but especially a fun escape during the pandemic. Enjoy.
