Orange County Children’s Book Festival

childrensbookfestivalRemember the good old days when you could walk into Crown Books, Borders, or Barnes & Noble and browse the tombs for your favorite author or curl up in a corner to check out a fun read? With most bookstores closed, where can a mom purchase books for children and teens besides logging onto Amazon?

There’s a special feel about a book when you check out its cover and read the blurbs to determine interest. Sunday, September 25, 2016 presents the perfect opportunity. Residents of Southern California will have the chance to meet over 100 popular authors and illustrators and more than 100 book exhibitors at the 13th Annual Orange County Children’s Book Festival. The event will be held at the Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa from 9:30 AM-4:30 PM.

At the Children’s Book Festival there will be five stages. At the Early Reader Stage you can meet Marlana Liburdi, author of Happy Hearts for Keeps. The Entertainment Stage promises performances from 10:30-2:30 including the talents of the .Comm Dancers.

Illustrators will be on another stage encouraging young artist talent. On the Animal Stage authors will share their stories that motivated their books like Out on a Limerick by Rod Davis.

On the Middle Grade/Teen/YA Stage authors like Emma Price, Alane Adams, and Ashley Mansour will discuss their books and perhaps read from their respective novels.

One of the most popular of the Festival’s five stages is the PBS-SoCal Storytellers Stage. A professional storyteller like Sheri Fink will talk about her picture books, The Little Gnome.

The Orange County Children’s Book Festival is a great place to buy books, talk with authors and illustrators, listen to professional storytellers, and get free family entertainment. Admission and parking are also free.
