6 Cheap Places to Buy Books

Looking for an inexpensive book? Here are a few suggestions where you can purchase or even find a book for free.books

1. Thrift Shops. Places like Goodwill, the American Cancer Society Discover Shops, and the Salvation Army are just a few examples of thrift shops that sell books for under a $1.00. For example, when shopping at a thrift shop on vacation one summer I found dozens of YA books between $.25 and $.10.

2. Thrift Books. This is an Internet company selling books as low as $2.99 each.

3. Garage Sales. On most weekends someone in your area will line up their goodies on their front lawns, and some of those treasures are invariably books. Check them out. You’ll never know what gems you may find.

Unknown4. The Little Free Library.  Take a stroll around your neighborhood and you’re bound to find a Little Free Library {Click on the link for an article telling all about it.} (There are four in my area alone.) It’s a model of a one-room schoolhouse built on a post. The adorable boxes are filled with free books. Take one and make sure you give back as well.

5. Amazon. Believe it or not, you can find amazing sales on Amazon. Just last week I bought a biography about Albert Einstein for $.01, albeit shipping and handling cost $3.99. That same book could cost as much as $11.22. To avoid shipping and handling charges you can down load digital books for as little as $.99. However, you need to own a Kindle.

6. $10 or Less Bookstore. Located in Northridge, California, this store offers tons of books reasonably priced. Shopper Bryan Bazalar said, “Coming here is like going on a treasure hunt. It’s such a great feeling to find something totally awesome for not a lot of money.”

If you’re tired of paying huge prices at bookstores (if you can actually find one), locating a thrift shop, finding a garage sale, or even taking a free book at your local Little Free Library are unique solutions to finding inexpensive books for you and your kids.
